At its simplest, Patient Participation refers to patients taking an active interest in their health care. At present, most Patient Participation Groups (PPGs) operate within GP surgeries and health centres. Their priorities are developed and agreed locally in order to meet local needs and to reflect the interests and energies of the participants.
What these PPGs do today?
They are involved in many different aspects of the running and support of GP Practices, including:
- Supporting Flu Clinics
- Surveys regarding services and access
- New buildings design
- Changes to services
- Birmingham & Solihull ICB
- Practice consultations i.e. Opening hours, phlebotomy, weight management
- Notice Boards, speakers etc
The PPG is made up of a varied group of patients from the surgery and one of its tasks during the first year was to run a survey to gather the views of the patients about the services & patient experience that patient's get from the surgery. The PDF documents below are the report that has been written and approved by the PPG as part of the Directed Enhance Service for Patient Participation in 2012. Also attached is a newsletter that will be delivered to all residents in Hampton Village & the surrounding area with the help of the Parish Council as part of the next distribution of the parish magazine.
The Surgery along with the PPG are always looking for patients to join the group or to pass on their comments or concerns regarding their experiences at Hampton Surgery. If you are interested in coming along to the next meeting please contact the Practice Manager on 01675 442510 who can give you some more information or can ask one of the PPG to contact you to discuss further.
